Førde Festivalen
ANIM’s Azada Ensemble performed at the World Music Festival, Forde Festivalen, in Norway. Førdefestivalen is Scandinavia's largest festival for acoustic folk music and world music. The festival presents ethnic music from all over the world. We wish to let the public experience something of the wonderful diversity of music cultures and traditions that exist on our planet. The Azada Ensemble served as representation of traditional Afghan music at the festival.
Dr Ahmad Sarmast, founder and director of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music spoke at the festival. He was joined by Manny Ansar, director of Festival in Exile (formerly Festival in the Desert), for their talk entitled Shattered Dreams. This discussion gave insight into the situation on the ground in Afghanistan and Mali.
